How will Monster Hunter Now work? The first pictures
Monster Hunter Now is a game that uses AR technology from Niantic – known for creating Pokémon GO and Harry Potter: Wizards Unite – to turn the real world into a battlefield. The players, or rather the “hunters”, will be able to explore, collect resources and fight against the monsters of the famous CAPCOM franchise. All of this, obviously, in the real world, through the augmented reality of the smartphone.
The game also features a mode multiplayer, which means that several hunters will be able to join forces to defeat very powerful enemies. At the moment we don’t know much about the game details, but during the presentation event we attended, the developers let slip some interesting information.
First of all we know that the combat mechanics will be absolutely simple and intuitive, also adapts those unfamiliar with the franchise’s titles. With a touch on the screen you attack the enemy, with multiple touches you make combos and holding down you activate actions and special attacks. The developers have also teased a paintball functionality. No, no paint guns. Paintball is a feature that allows you to mark the monsters encountered in the city in order to face them latermaybe once you get home. Especially useful for tagging monsters you come across on your way to work or school, but just don’t have time to fight right now.
As with Pokémon GO, players will find monsters and collectible resources in the main ones places of historical and cultural interest in their city. By collecting resources you can create and upgrade your own equipment.
