Mortal Kombat 2 producer Todd Garner basically announced Scorpion’s return by sharing a new shot from the film’s set. Even if he has already been confirmed that most of the cast from the first film Mortal Kombat will return in the sequel, there was still a big question mark on the return of Scorpion, after the actor Hiroyuki Sanada he had revealed that he probably wouldn’t reprise the role. Now producer Todd Garner has confirmed the character’s return with a photo published on X. Al center of the image is the kunaithe weapon typically associated with Scorpion, on what appears to be a blue screen.

Mortal Kombat 2: who will play Scorpion?
Mortal Kombat 2 is the cinematic sequel to the 2021 film based on the video game series of the same name created in 1991 by Ed Boon and John Tobias. The sequel will continue the story of the fighters, experts in martial arts, who defend our reality. Among the protagonists of Mortal Kombat 2 there will be Karl Urban in the role of Johnny Cage (whose look has already been revealed), Tati Gabrielle who will be Jade and Adeline Rudolph, who has been entrusted with the part of Kitana.
It is not yet known whether actor Hiroyuki Sanada will reprise his role as Scorpion or not. In any case they will return: Lewis Tan as Cole Young, Jessica McNamee as Sonya Blade, Josh Lawson as Kano, Tadanobu Asano as Lord Raiden, Mehcad Brooks as Jax, Ludi Lin as Liu Kang, Chin Han nei panni di Shang Tsung, Joe Taslim neither of Bi-Han nor Sub-Zero nor Max Huang as Kung Lao. Simon McQuoid as mentioned will also be the director of this sequel while the screenplay is signed by Jeremy Slater, recently author of the Moon Knight series. The release date has yet to be announced.
