Snapchat has announced the launch of its AI-powered chatbot, My AI, for all users for free. The chatbot, based on the OpenA language modelI, was previously only made available to Snapchat Plus subscribers.
How My AI works, the Snapchat chatbot
My AI is a chatbot capable of having conversations with users on various topics, just like ChatGPT. Snappers can also change the look and name of the chatbot with a custom avatar. But My AI is not only a virtual companion to chat with, but also an intelligent assistant that can integrate with other Snapchat features. For example, can be added to group chats by mentioning it with an @ symbol and can provide recommendations on the social’s AR Lenses.
In the near future, Snap plans to integrate the possibility of interacting visually with My AI, through photos and images.
Evan Spiegel, CEO of Snap, described the technology as “a fantastic creative tool” and shared some personal examples of how he uses My AI to create bedtime stories for his kids and plan a birthday itinerary for his wife. Spiegel (via The Verge) reports that More than 2 million snappers al are using My AI daily.
Snapchat is one of the first social platforms to harness the potential of generative AI to offer its users an innovative and fun experience. With My AI, Snapchat hopes to increase the engagement and loyalty of its users, as well as create new opportunities for its advertising business.
