Mystery in Saint-Tropez: Nicolas Benamou’s French comedy hits cinemas in Italy on June 9
Mystery in Saint-Tropez is the title of the new hilarious film by Nicolas Benamou and will arrive in local cinemas on 9 June, thanks to Wonder Pictures and Unipol Biografilm Collection.
This time, Benamou takes us to the luxurious “French Riviera” of the early ’70s, together with an exceptional cast that brings together the biggest stars of French comedy in a funny film, full of misunderstandings and hilarious gags.
The plot of Mystery in Saint-Tropez
France, 1970, after Swinging London it’s time for yéyé. The billionaire Croissant and his wife Eliane, who – as every year – organize a party in their sumptuous villa on the Côte d’Azur, do not shy away from fashion, which is the event par excellence for the jet set. But someone has targeted the couple and Croissant turns to his minister friend Jacques Chirac to ask him to be the best policeman in Paris to investigate the case.
Unfortunately, the only one available is Commissioner Botta, almost retired and with a disastrous resume. But in the hot summer of Saint-Tropez, even his improbable methods could work.
The cast of the film
The cast, needless to say, is made up of several stars of French comedy and beyond.
Among the protagonists we see a brilliant Benoit Poelvoordealready loved for his masterful interpretation of an irascible Eternal Father in a dressing gown in the blockbuster God exists and lives in Brussels.
Christian Claviera true laughter talent, he achieved intentional fame thanks to successful films such as Visitors, Guardian Angels, Asterix & Obelix and especially Don’t marry my daughters!. In the film, he plays the role of an unlikely new Clouseau-style inspector.
Then we have the magnificent Gérard Depardieuaward-winning, acclaimed by critics and now counted in the Olympus of the history of cinema.
They complete the exceptional cast Thierry Lhermitte (The dinner of the cretins) and the extraordinary rosy depalmaeclectic and magnetic muse of Almodovar’s best films (Women on the verge of a nervous breakdown).
So we just have to wait until June 9 for the cinema release and then … enjoy!
