Filming has finally started in Rome for SUBURRÆTERNA, the new TV series that expands the universe of Suburra
Today, in Rome there was the first take for SUBURRÆTERNAthe new TV series presented by Netflix intended for the expansion of the universe of Suburra.
This is an original story produced by Cattleya – part of ITV Studios and we can enjoy it on Netflix nel 2023.
Cast and production
In the cast they will return Giacomo Ferrara to play the role of Small sword e Filippo Nigro to lend the face to Amedeo Cinagliawhile Carlotta Antonelli e Federica Sabatini return to take on the role of respectively Angelica e Nadia.
Ezio Abbate and Fabrizio Bettelli are screenwriters and Head Writers of the series together with Camilla Buizza, Marco Sani, Andrea Nobile and Giulia Forgione.
At the direction of the first four episodes we will find Ciro D’Emiliowhile Alessandro Tonda will take care of the last four.
The series is taken from the literary work Suburra written by Giancarlo De Cataldo and Carlo Bonini – who also take care of the story editing – published by Einaudi.
The plot
We are in Rome, in 2011. The government is on the verge of falling, the Vatican is in crisis, while the city is literally set on fire.
In the middle world Cinaglia tried to take up the Samurai legacy and, together with Badali, he continues to manage the criminal affairs of the city, with the help of Adelaide and Angelica, who remained at the head of the Anacleti, and of Nadia, who helps them manage the squares of Ostia.
However, this system is no longer passively accepted by everyone, there will be new protagonists to take the field to upset the balance of the city. All this will lead to a revolution, which, like a tsunami, will rapidly expand to erase everything that represents the past.
Spadino will therefore be forced to go home, to avoid that his family is endangered along with everything else, and to seek new allies, even where he never thought of finding them … But war is war and control of Rome is at stake.
