The annual celebration of Mother’s Day is approaching again this year and Netflix gives us some suggestions on which series or films to watch in the company of our mothers (along with some that perhaps it is better to avoid): let’s discover them together in detail in this dedicated article
Given the approach of the annual Mother’s Day which this year is celebrated on May 14, we are pleased to inform you of the titles that Netflix has selected to enjoy with her… or that it is better not to watch together during this anniversary! The genres chosen are specially different from each other to adapt to the tastes of each one, from lovers of sentimental stories to lovers of thrillers and action films. Below is a list of titles, the vision of which together with the mother is absolutely advisable, to comment, feel pampered or simply have fun!
The Mother (Movie) – Queen Charlotte (TV Series) | Netflix: What to watch for Mother’s Day?
Coming May 12 to Netflix, The Mother is an action movie directed by Niki Caro and with an extravagant cast consisting of Jennifer Lopez, Joseph Fiennes and many others. The synopsis is as follows:
A military-trained assassin comes out of hiding to protect the daughter she’s never met from ruthless criminals bent on revenge at any cost.
Among the most anticipated series of this year we certainly find Queen Charlotte: A Bridgerton Story, a spin-off of the beloved series, created and directed by Shonda Rhimes. The synopsis is as follows:
The marriage of young Queen Charlotte to King George of England sparks an epic romance and transforms high society in this Bridgerton prequel.
The Diplomat (TV Series) – Heartstopper (TV Series) – Ginny&Georgia (TV Series) | Netflix: What to watch for Mother’s Day?
The Diplomat is a recent TV series created by Deborah Cahn with Keri Russell, Rufus Sewell, David Gyasi and Ato Essandoh in the cast. The synopsis, as reported by Netflix, is as follows:
During an international crisis, a diplomat juggles the prestigious position of US ambassador to the United Kingdom and a turbulent marriage to a political star.
Instead, let’s go back to 2022 with Heartstopper, TV series created by Alice Oseman Starring Kit Connor, Joe Locke, William Gao, Yasmin Finney, Corinna Brown and many more. The synopsis of the British drama is as follows:
Charlie and Nick discover their friendship could be more than that as they juggle high school and teenage love in this coming-of-age series.
Finally, as the latest proposal from Netflix to spend a few hours together on Mother’s Day we find Ginny&Georgia, TV series whose second season arrived this year created by Sarah Lampert with Brianne Howey, Antonia Gentry and Diesel La Torraca. The synopsis is as follows:
A free-spirited mom, Georgia moves upstate with her sons Ginny and Austin, but the family discovers that the road to a fresh start may be accidental.
What not to watch: Obsession (TV Series) – Sex/Life (TV Series) | Netflix: What to watch for Mother’s Day?
Let’s start the list of things Netflix advises against watching on Mother’s Day with Obsession, miniseries with Richard Armitage, Charlie Murphy, Indira Varma and Rish Shah whose boiling synopsis is as follows:
A respected London surgeon’s affair with his son’s fiancée turns into an erotic infatuation that threatens to change their lives forever.
Along the lines of Obsession, Sex/Life is a TV series that has reached two seasons with Sarah Shahi, Mike Vogel, Adam Demos and Margaret Odette. The synopsis is as follows:
A woman sees her audacious sexual pasts and her present as a wife and mother collide when a rebellious ex reappears in her life that she can’t forget.
What not to watch: Elite (TV Series) – Bonding (TV Series) – Hot Lines (TV Series) | Netflix: What to watch for Mother’s Day?
Elite is a Spanish TV series now in its sixth season and created by Carlos Montero and Dario Madrona which, considering the topics covered, maybe you really shouldn’t see with your mom. The synopsis is as follows:
After the collapse of a public school, developers try to save their image by paying for three of the students involved to study in an exclusive school.
So let’s go to domination with Bonding, American TV series created by Rightor Doyle with Zoe Levin, Brendan Scannel and Micah Stock in the cast. Two seasons are already available on Netflix and the synopsis provided is as follows:
A New York coed with a double life as a dominatrix hires her best friend from high school to be her assistant.
Finally, Hot Lines. We don’t think we need to say anything other than the title, but this TV series is created by Pieter Bartk Korthuis and in the cast we find Joy Delima, Minne Koole, Christ Peters and many others. The synopsis provided by Netflix is as follows:
Amsterdam, 80s. An enterprising student accidentally begins a new career at an erotic hotline started by two very different brothers.
Good vision!
