2025 will be the year the big bomb drops with Dacia’s new Sandrider car. The Romanian car manufacturer will have to work hard to live up to the great announcements shown at CES in recent years. 2025 will be a very busy year between World Rally-Raid Championship and the Dakar 2025. The official drivers of this competition were already announced last year and they promise well: we have the five-time winner of the Dakar, Nasser Al-Attiyahthe legend of the World Rally Sebastien Loeb and the first woman to win the Dakar stage since Jutta Kleinschmidt, Cristina Gutierrez. Program director Denis Le Vot presented the prototype of the new car in Paris: the Dacia Sandrider.

The characteristics of this new rally car have the same ones as the Hunter built by Prodrive, but it has a new turbo V6 engine three litres, which will run on synthetic fuel. The Prodrive logo is found on the front of the car and is the company that helped Dacia find the right weight balance, lower the center of gravity and introduce innovative systems. One of them is the thermal management system patented that uses infrared pigments to lower the temperature. It has four-wheel drive and new brakes, with discs and pedals changed to give more comfort to the riders who will drive it and which requires less physical effort. Dacia has thought about the needs of the drivers, as explained by the director in charge David Durand. The same Loeb he said:
We discussed a lot about several aspects of the car, but the main thing was visibility, because sometimes we have problems understanding where we are going, so we did a lot of testing. We thought it would bring several benefits
Gutierrez he also proposed adding an innovative system to avoid losing pieces in the desert, which seems very advantageous especially when punctures occur. The Frenchwoman gained experience with Loeb, in addition to victories in the Dakar with Stephane Peterhansel. Dacia plans to launch the Sandrider in the UK in April, but first tests will take place in June during three sessions with Morocco. In fact he will participate in the Morocco Rally.
