During the Nintendo Direct broadcast a few days ago, the new game dedicated to Professor Layton was also unveiled with a teaser: let’s find out all the details together
The first Nintendo Direct of what appears to be a prolific 2023 for the big N aired on the evening of February 8, and brought with it a long list of news, trailers and surprises. Alongside the demos of Octopath Traveler II, Sea of Stars and Kirby’s Return to Dream Land Deluxe, we were able to take a new look at The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom and Metroid was also released (shadow drop is the right term). Prime Remastered, which we will discuss shortly on these pages, stay with us. In short: an intense evening, after the first ten minutes of nothing, which made many fans of the Nintendo world and of video games in general jump on their seats. And then there’s him: Layton.
On that stage that seemed to never stop throwing bombs, a short teaser was also shown for the next chapter of a series that had really been missing for a long, too long time. We are talking about the short presentation trailer of Professor Layton and the World of Steam in which we see our beloved professor walking in a city with strong Steampunk traits, before turning to the camera and saying hello… in his own way. The Layton franchise returns with a new teaser on stage at Nintendo Direct!
The Professor Layton series was extremely popular on the Nintendo DS and 3DS and had sold more than 17 million copies (as of June 2018). Four chapters (The Wonderland, Pandora’s Box, The Lost Future, The Spectre’s Calling) were released on the Nintendo DS between 2007 and 2009, while the next two (Mask of Miracles and Legacy of the Aslants) arrived on 3DS in 2011 and 2013. Level 5, moreover, together with Capcom decided to create in 2012 a crossover between Professor Layton and Phoenix Wright, in which elements of both series were mixed. The most recent game in the series dates back to 2017, when Layton’s Mystery Journey: Katrielle and the millionaires’ conspiracy was released on 3DS, in which, however, the protagonist was the professor’s daughter. In short: it’s also time for a new chapter eh Nintendo!
