Nintendo Pictures: Super Mario animated film coming soon
The acquisition comes at a very important time for the Japanese company, as Nintendo is preparing for the most significant theatrical release of recent years: an animated film based on the Super Mario Bros franchise with Chris Pratt. The release of the film is currently scheduled for spring next year, almost thirty years after the live action Super Mario Bros. dated 1993 (with Bob Hoskins e John Leguizamo).
Nintendo is certainly not the first company to offer popular videogame universes in a cinematic key. We know that HBO is currently working on a TV series based on The Last of Us, while SEGA has released two Sonic-inspired films. Sony has also been busy, making a feature film based on Uncharted.
