Twitter down, what’s going on?

Twitter is down: many reports from users who declare how it is impossible to access social media. The problem arose today 14 July 2022 shortly before 2pm, however, it does not seem to be generalized, with some users being able to access from the browser. But what is going on?

Twitter down: many reports on Downdetector

In the last hour, the Downdetector site has seen a huge boom in reports regarding the main Twitter site: in a few minutes we are over four thousand from Italy alone. About half of users report problems with the app, but almost a third also have problems accessing the site from the browser.

The problem appears to be linked to loading times, with many users reporting that “I don’t like Twitter” (some in a much more colorful way). But the problem it does not seem generalized: we were able to easily access the website on the browser, without unusually long times.

Also, on the official Twitter site no inefficiencies are reported, suggesting that the problem could be localized.

It is currently unclear what the problem may have been, but it could there is a traffic management problem rather than a hacker attack or a wrong update, since the problem does not extend to the whole network. But we will wait for more precise news from Twitter and we will update you.

The site’s glitch comes at a particular time in Twitter’s recent history. After the deal was blown with Elon Musk, the company has started a legal battle that could upset business plans. The damage done by the no-deal is currently difficult to quantify.

The question therefore seems localized, even if it is too early to draw conclusions. We will let you know if there are any updates.
