As told by the Bloomberg economics website in its latest report, the president of the Kyoto giant Shuntaro Furukawa admitted the harsh reality of a platform ambitious enough to aim for a double life cycle: the console will slow down now that it has reached its seventh year of life, and the idea of selling 15 million units is “a bit exaggerated”.

“Consistency in sales will be difficult to achieve in the seventh year of the console,” says Furukawa. “Our target of 15 million may be too optimistic. But we will do our best to raise demand for consoles by the holiday season in order to do that.” In all of this, Furukawa specifically denied rumors of new hardware for the current fiscal year (until next March). Despite this, there is still talk of a successor for the console being worked on by the Kyotense company. The upcoming Tears of the Kingdom appears to be the last big release, and rumors about the absence of a Direct for the month of June seem to corroborate the indiscretion.
