Furthermore, the House is developing solid state batteries (ASSB), which will cost 65% less and will have charging times up to a third compared to current batteries.

The first Nissan cars with ASSB technology will hit the market in 2028with an estimated cost of batteries equal to 75 dollars per kWh, with the aim of reducing it in subsequent years to 65 dollars per kWh, to achieve cost parity between electric and petrol vehicles.

Solid state batteries will give a strong boost to the spread of electric vehicles, which thanks to this technology will be more accessible and easier to manage.

Progress in electrification in Europe

Nissan sold over one million electric vehicles in the worldof which around a third in Europe, where the Nissan range will be completely electrified from 2022, with the arrival of e-POWER technology (on Qashqai and X-Trail) and the new Ariyas, the 100% electric crossover, and e- Townstar, the compact commercial vehicle ideal for city activities and last mile deliveries.

e-POWER it is a Nissan patent launched in Japan in 2017 and developed for European customers by the engineering team at Nissan Technical Center Europe. e-POWER, with the wheels moved by the electric motor and the energy produced on board by a sophisticated petrol engine, is the transition technology towards 100% electric mobility.

The European automotive market is electrifying at a rapid pace. In the five years from 2018 to 2022, the weight of electrified models went from 5% to 44%, while the weight of 100% electric models went from 1% to 12%.
