Nothing Phone (2a) is the new smartphone from Nothing. Attractive design, high performance and attention to sustainability
Nothing has finally announced its new smartphone for the mid-range market, Nothing Phone (2a)a device aimed at those who love innovation, design and want a high-performance and reliable smartphone, at the right price.
Nothing Phone (2a): Unique and durable design
Phone (2a) stands out for its attractive design, with a 90 degree angle unibody shell which wraps around the edges and extends to the photographic module. The lower part of the body reflects the design of the New York subway map Massimo Vignelli. The rear photographic module instead stabilizes the smartphone when it is on a flat surface, aiding its usability.
High level performance
The heart of the smartphone is the new processor MediaTek Dimensity 7200 Pro, made on a second-generation 4nm process (and manufactured by TSMC). The chip in question offers high performance and optimized energy efficiency. To complete the hardware picture we will take care of it 8/12GB in RAM, 128/256GB of storage space and the battery module from 5000mAh with 45W charging.
Nothing Phone (2a): display immersivo
The smartphone has a display 6.7″ flexible AMOLED with a resolution of 1084 x 2412 pixels, a peak brightness of 1,300 nits and a refresh rate of 120Hz. The display is protected by Corning Gorilla Glass 5 and offers a screen-to-body ratio of 91.65%.
Reliable camera
Phone (2a) is equipped with a 50MP dual rear camera with optical stabilization and f/1.88 aperture. The secondary camera has a 50MP sensor with ultra-wide-angle optics and a 114° field of view. Among other things, the front camera uses the same 32MP sensor present on the flagship Nothing Phone (2) with f/2.2 aperture.
Nothing Phone (2a): software, updates and AI
Nothing Phone (2a) is based on Android 14 with proprietary user interface Nothing OS 2.5. The company promises up to 3 years of software updates and 4 years of security updates. Nothing then announced a partnership with Perplexity, the AI-powered response engine. Additionally, users who purchase Phone (2a) between March 5 and March 19 will be able to receive up to one year of Perplexity Pro.
The device also boasts the world’s lowest carbon footprint in a smartphone, with 52 kg of CO2 issued. It is in fact made with recycled materials and the packaging is plastic-free.
Availability and prices
Nothing Phone (2a) is available in three color variations: Black, Milk and White. The available configurations are the following:
- 8GB+128GB (349€)
- 12GB+256GB (399€)
The smartphone will be available to the public starting from Tuesday 12 March.
