Jay Roach, director of the prequel Ocean’s Eleven, let slip some details about the new production. Let’s find out
It seems that for a few months, Jay Roach is back to work on a new project: a prequel di Ocean’s Eleven. This is a new film, stemming from the director’s original trilogy Steven Soderbergh, titled Ocean’s Eleven (2001), Ocean’s Twelve (2004), and Ocean’s Thirteen (2007). The new production will see among the protagonists an already consolidated film couple, Margot Robbie e Ryan Gosling, who are about to hit the theaters with the much talked about movie Barbie. To date, the production of the prequel has taken place quite in the shadows; now finally Roach has decided to let slip some little news that can anticipate what we will see. The plot | Ocean’s Eleven: Here’s what we know about the prequel
In a recent interview with AP, the director revealed some details of the plot of the prequel. Now we know that the story will be set in Montecarlo, in 1962. A city famous for the Grand Prix, this event will be the backdrop to the events narrated. Roach then spoke about one of the characters: a famous transport tycoon, owner of a luxurious yacht. According to Margot Robbie, we can summarize this adventure as “an epic old-fashioned love story and adventure, disguised as a heist movie“.
It is not easy to tell you more, except that it will be, in the words of the director, “a heist movie, but very similar to a love story”, inspired by masterpieces by Hitchcock, such as To Catch a Thief and Notorious. From the first advances something truly phenomenal and unmissable promises, although there is still a lot to work on, given that a budget has not yet been established.
A proven pair
As we anticipated, among the few things we know about this new prequel, there is the return of a couple who have been making a name for themselves lately thanks to the film Barbie, to be released on July 20th. We are of course talking about Margot Robbie e Ryan Gosling. Jay Roach, well aware that the duo will not go unnoticed, has already commented on the choice, arguing that it derives from desire of the public to see the two together once again. Here are his words:
Initially, one wondered if it would be weird to have Margot and Ryan back together after Barbie. But I think there are couples who want to see each other again and again. It’s a powerful duo. There is suspense about this reunion; Will they trust each other enough to team up? This is romantic. That’s why Notorious is one of the most romantic movies I’ve ever seen, because the two protagonists don’t trust each other, yet they are forced to. This is the heart of what I want to do.
For now we have no other information to provide, except that filming will probably start on June 30th. Date only presumed, given that we still do not have any official confirmation. It will only be then that we could have more certain news, also thanks to the possibility of peeking at some small details from the set. Waiting for any developments, for now we say goodbye, even if, always vigilant in picking up other news in this regard.
