Netflix and One Piece creator and illustrator Eiichiro Oda have confirmed the news of the production of season 2 of the live action
The producers of the Netflix series based on the successful manga and anime have been ready for some time to create season 2 of One Piece. The global success of the first season, in fact, did not leave much room for doubt, ed today the official announcement arrived. To the live-action series based on One Piece, arrived on Netflix last August 31st and in the week from 28 August to 3 September, therefore in just 4 days, it accumulated 18.5 million views, climbing the global Top 10 of Netflix and the national top 10 of 84 countries around the world. It is therefore impossible not to think about a second season, and in fact Netflix itself has confirmed that scripts for season 2 are already ready and have also made a release forecast for the new episodes.
Marty Adelstein, CEO of Tomorrow Studios which produces the live-action One Piece in collaboration with the manga creator Eiichiro Oda and the publisher Shueisha, said that once work begins, new episodes could arrive streaming about 12-18 months later. Naturally, production cannot start until the SAG-AFTRA union actors’ strike is over but production could be overcome very quickly after this obstacle.
One Piece season 2 will be on Netflix
Thus, in some way, the famous one breaks curse of live-action anime adaptationsso far all failed experiments, for example Cowboy Bepop, produced by Tomorrow Studios themselves and canceled less than a month after its debut.
I think Netflix is trying to figure out how many episodes to order and whether to split them. I think we will have news in the next week or two weeks. There appears to be great momentum to continue on this path and develop a long-term strategy. So we’re just waiting for this.
Adelstein said. The positive outcome of the negotiations also depended on disproportionate amount of viewers that the series was able to involve. Will we see how season 2 fares?
