The news comes from China, where OPPO would have patented a smart ring that should be released in 2022. Here’s what we know and what it is for.
Oppo’s smart ring: what is it about?
A new device, apparently mysterious, is about to arrive that could revolutionize the use of augmented reality in 2022. OPPO has in fact filed the patent of one in China smart ring, designed to interact with the brand’s smart glasses. These have been presented in the past few days together with the Find N folding smartphone, which we told you about here.
The first images of the smart rings come from a leak from the QCC databases, which is the Chinese government body that deals with patents. For now we know that the project has been officially registered and that, by estimating the bureaucratic timing, we can imagine it was born in spring 2021. The smart ring would therefore act as a motion sensor which, combined with Oppo Air Glass, would serve to calibrate the movement of the hands for augmented reality. It is not excluded that the ring may be compatible with other devices for monitor heart rate and blood oxygenation. The release is scheduled for 2022, but given the mystery surrounding the device, we wouldn’t be surprised by a further leak of information in the coming weeks.
