Oppo obtained a prestigious award with his OPPO Zero-Power Tagincluded in the list of the best inventions of 2023 of TIME, in the category “Experimental“. This recognition positions Oppo alongside leading brands such as Apple, Samsung and Sony.
Oppo Zero-Power Tag awarded among the best inventions of 2023
TIME celebrated inventions that, with creativity, address significant problems. The list includes 200 inventions that are changing the way we live, work, play and think. In the “Experimental” category, the inclusion of the OPPO Zero-Power Tag highlights the company’s approach to a sustainable world, where IoT devices do not generate polluting batteries.
Elvis Zhou, CMO of Oppo Overseas, commented: “We are honored to have been included in TIME’s Best Inventions of 2023 list with the Oppo Zero-Power Tag, in recognition of our achievements in innovation and sustainability.” And he explains: “OPPO Zero-Power Tag is a Eco-friendly IoT device that communicates with phones using energy from the environment instead of the battery. With object tracking, environmental monitoring and other smart features, we are very excited about the possibilities this device can open up in the IoT space.”
Presented at MWC 2023the Zero-Power Tag prototype takes advantage of the technology Zero-power Communication, harvesting energy from Bluetooth, WiFi and cellular signals. This technology, which leverages RF energy harvesting and low-power processing, offers advantages such as smaller size, better durability, longer signal distance and lower costs.
The company believes Zero-Power Tag could prevent millions of batteries from ending up in landfill, making life smarter and easier for consumers and businesses. An approach in line with what was highlighted in Oppo Climate Action Report of February 2023. The company wants to achieve carbon neutrality by 2050.
His commitment is also seen in other awards, such as the 2023 SEAL Business Sustainability Award and recognition as one of the 10 most innovative companies in Asia-Pacific in 2023 from Fast Company. And in initiatives like theOppo Inspiration Challenge 2023to find innovative and sustainable proposals from startups from all over the world.
