The series developed by Playground Games had already made me fall in love in the previous chapter, but with Forza Horizon 5, it just took my heart away and I tell you about it in this review. The title already had a lot to offer in the past and, now, it manages to shine like never before. Lots of models to offer, an exceptional panorama, an oversized map. Forza Horizon 5 has practically no rival in its field and, despite that, it has given the best it could give. You feel the inspiration of Need for Speed (those of the early 2000s), although it has a heart of its own. Events, races, money, skins and exploration. These few words are enough to describe the gameplay, but they are not enough to explain all the details and reasons why the title deserves to be played. So, without further introduction, let’s get to the heart of our review.
Forza Horizon 5 review: the climb has reached the top
Forza Horizon 5 is fast paced and we’ve seen it from the very beginning of our review, but those who have played the previous chapter know it. We don’t have to make a big mess, we don’t need to start the climb from the lowest of points. The game already sees us as a “hero” and we just have to finish making our dream come true. Just catapulted into the big map, we will be offered a car that certainly does not belong to the lower end. From the very first moments we will be able to drive 500 horsepower racing cars, ready to whiz along the streets of Mexico.
In a few hours, then, we will be bombarded with challenges and events and this will allow us to unlock more and more elements. The challenges will be “quick” and will shower us with rewards. We will have more than 500 cars available that we will unlock as time progresses. Each time we will be offered a new challenge, which will involve unlocking awards, cars and more. Unlocking powerful cars is not difficult at allindeed, we will have a good repertoire from the early hours. Often, however, we will be forced to choose between some specific categories in order to face certain events.
An impressive world
What stood out from the very first minutes of our review of Forza Horizon 5 and its scenario. Because, although in practice the title is very similar to the previous chapter, the atmosphere that surrounds it is even more suggestive. The Massico was a bad choice, more so. Not only for its incredible landscapes, wonderful to admire, but also for all the suggestive surrounding vein. An incredible event, which generates a constant party in a place that is incredible. The scenes are spectacular and could not have been expressed better.
The vastness of the map is absolutely impressive, as well as full of endless events. Playground Games’ choice was more than appreciated. A wonderful attention to detail, not only in the scenes, but also in the cars.
New week, new event
In the wake of the previous chapter, Forza Horizon 5 grants you all the maximum freedom of play, focusing on the Seasonal Playlist. S.basically these are special events that vary from week to week, highlighting the particularities of the season, as well as imposing classes and difficulties. Events follow one another in which we will be forced to obey the rules, to prove ourselves as champions even outside our comfort zone. Although they are very complicated, these events allow us to obtain even greater rewards.
One of the new additions is Event Labs, which is the system that allows you to create customized rides. This system is structured in such a way as to create real paths to share. Freedom is maximum, as it is possible to give life to practically unique events.
Forza Horizon 5 review: a challenge that can also be supported by the old gen
For our review of Forza Horizon 5, we tested the title on a PC equipped with a stock i7 8700K processor, 32GB of RAM and an RTX 2060 Super. The performances were not as bad as we would have expected from a game of this caliber. Although the graphic detail is excellent, in fact, we were able to play safely 60 FPS. We got better results with some small graphic compromises which, however, did not particularly damage the performance. Moreover, thanks to the different settings, it is possible to set every detail in the best possible way, in order to obtain the desired result.
On a stage level, Forza Horizon 5 is crazy. We were already fascinated by the previous one, but here we touch an absurd level of detail: a real marvel for the eyes. Beautiful graphics of the cars, the reflections on them. Beautiful scenography and the panorama offered; often, in fact, it’s nice to just spend a few hours to find the perfect shot.
Forza Horizon 5 review: nothing can be said but yes
At the end of our Forza Horizon 5 review, we have no doubt: passed with flying colors. We were fully satisfied with every little detail of the new Playground Games title. We have spectacular vehicle care, as well as a huge variety. The game map is large, but most of all a pleasure to explore. We have lots of events and lots of rewards. In short, a game that has improved and refined to the maximum, until it becomes a real gem not to be missed.
