Ozzy Osbourne, Motorhead, Megadeth e Metallica are just some of the artists present in the lineup ofOzzfest 2022. The appointment, unmissable for heavy metal lovers, this year is even more awaited, given that the festival has not been held since 2018. It will also be the first edition to land in the metaverse, thanks to the collaboration with Decentraland.
The event was born for the first time in 1996 by the will of Ozzy Osbourne. After more than 20 years of live concerts, strictly annually, the festival will return this week after three years of forced stop, and it does so on a special land in the Decentraland metaverse.
Ozzfest 2022 will run from Thursday 10 November until Sunday 13.
How to watch Ozzfest 2022 in the metaverse
To participate in the virtual event, which is pigeonholed as part of the Decentraland Metaverse Music Festival 2022 no viewer, ticket or headset will be required. Access to Decentraland – and the Ozzfest in the metaverse – will be free and open to all via the browser on your computer (both Mac and PC are supported) at this link. The only recommendations are to have an operating system updated to the latest version.
Owners of Ozzy Osbourne’s official NFT (CryptoBatz) will also have free access to aexclusive virtual VIP area, complete with merchandising. Those who own CryptoBatz will in fact be able to “Take a potion” and “transform” into bats, flying on the special section of the stage dedicated to them and watching the show from a decidedly privileged position.
An official press release reports that “The Ozzfest stage will not be bound by the boundaries of reality. This will become a sprawling Gothic castle with a giant Ozzfest logo emblazoned on the front, offering hard rock fans a unique spectacle and unforgettable experience ”.

Commenting on the initiative Ozzy Osbourne said: “I am thrilled to bring Ozzfest to the metaverse. This allows me and the other bands on the bill to reach our fans in a new and innovative way ”.
The Ozzfest 2022 lineup
The Ozzfest 2022 lineup includes, among others, Ozzy Osbourne, Megadeth, Black Label Society, The Raven Age, Skid Row, Britof e Metallica. NME reports that Motorhead should also be on the bill but, since the death of the legendary singer and bassist Lemmy Kilmister, would be officially dissolved. According to Metal Injection, the band’s performance could actually be a pre-recorded live. Other artists will be announced in the coming days.
In the broader billboard of the Decentraland Metaverse Music Festival, of which Ozzfest is a part, the DJ will also perform Italian Nicola Fasano beyond Björk, Dillon Francis, Soulja Boy, Izzy Bizu, Vladimir Nightmare, SNH48, DJ Regard, Maia Wright, Spottie WiFi, Atarashii Gakko!, Grammar + Luxury, Maija Kauhanen, Stickmen Project, Breland, Akira the Don, Losers, Harrison First, Steve Saiko, Eliane Correa, 2AM+PIP, Erika Krall, Lian Gold and many others.
