It is possible to “kill them all” also on Steam Deck, as long as the settings are correct: here are the conditions for a portable Palworld
Well yes, with early access on Steam it is possible to “catch them all” (with related abuses) even in the ready-to-wear version on the Deck of Valve, but to do so Palworld requires some ad hoc settings. The game was defined as “playable” by Gabe Newell’s team, by whose standards it is equivalent to “functional, with prior optimizations”. Valve also warns us about the fact that some of the in-game text (for which some of our translations may be incorrect, ed.) may be too small to read on the portable screen, in case you need another reason to tinker with the settings before play. If you’re ready to tinker with that, we’re here to tell you which parameters to act on.
The best settings for Palworld on Steam Deck
On Steam Deck, Palworld works exactly like on PC: an open world survival game with firearms and hordes of Pokemon-like, all elements that together require the right settings. Leaving aside navigation of the menus is difficult at times and some input lag issues, the interface is simply designed for many other screens. The game wanders around between 25 and 35 frames per secondbut if you want more stable performance follow the list below.
- vsync: disabled
- Motion Blur: disabled
- Maximum FPS: 30
- Anti-aliasing: TSR (passenger TAA)
- Viewing distance: low
- Four: media
- Ombre: average
- Effect quality: media
- Texture quality: media
Setting everything to “low” will give you an inconsistent range between 40 and 50 frames, but it’s not worth the effort. The title of Pocketpaircurrently still in legal limbo, is still far from being “Verified” for the platform, but for now it is definitely playable.
