Sonnet has announced its brand new PCI Express 3.0 adapter card with two NVMe SSD slots

Sonnet Technologies (here for the site) announced the card today PCIe low profile Sonnet M.2 2×4, the latest offering from the company’s popular family of high-performance memory cards. This allows the installation of multiple SSDs in the PCIe card slot computer or Thunderbolt expansion system. The low-profile, half-length PCIe 3.0 card is equipped with two M-keyed M.2 NVMe SSD slots that support installing M.2 PCIe form factor NVMe SSDs.

Sonnet M.2 2 × 4 low profile PCIe card allows users to mount two SSD M.2 NVMe 2280 PCIe (sold separately) in almost any expansion card slot with an available PCIe x8 or x16 card slot. Using today’s highest capacity SSDs, you can install up to 16 TB of storage capacity. RAID 0, RAID 1 and JBOD configurations are supported, providing users with flexibility in configuring SSDs for the best performance or data security, or both.

Details on the PCI Express 3.0 adapter card

For users who need to add internal memory to their computer and require fast data transfer speeds, an upgrade based on SSD NVMe M.2 It is ideal. Many computers do not include slots to support direct installation of M.2 SSDs, but do include PCIe expansion card slots. With Sonnet’s M.2 2 × 4 low profile PCIe card installed, the user can mount two SSDs in a single PCIe slot. With no cables, adapters or mounting trays required, for instant access media storage or as a high performance scratch disk.

For users whose computers do not have PCIe card slots, installing the Sonnet card in one of the PCIe card expansion systems connects the M. 2 dual SSD slots for 2 × 4 cards via a single cable.

Compatibility

Compatible with operating systems macOS, Windows e Linux, Sonnet M.2 2 × 4 low-profile PCIe card only requires low-profile card space. Plus, it includes both full-height and low-profile PCIe brackets, so it’s ideal for use in most any desktop tower, mini workstation, or server computer. And again, in expansion systems from Thunderbolt a scheda PCIe with an available PCIe x8 or x16 slot. Since the Sonnet card uses a high-performance 16-lane PCIe 3.0 bridge chip, it does not require specific SSDs or a particular motherboard to function. It doesn’t even require a PCIe fork to support RAID capabilities.

Installed in a computer’s PCIe 3.0 or 4.0 card slot, the Sonnet card supports outstanding storage performance. A single SSD installed on the card can provide data transfers up to 3,400 MB / s. With two SSDs installed and configured as a RAID set, transfers up to 6,600 MB / s. To support their sustained high performance, the card’s built-in heatsink silently cools SSDs to eliminate the need for a “thermal accelerator”. An SSD protection feature that prevents overheating by choking performance until it cools down.
