Prequel to the novel Living Cemetery, Pet Sematary: Bloodlines, expected on Paramount+ on October 6, also convinced Stephen King who promoted it personally
Pet Sematary: Bloodlines will be available on Paramount+ starting October 6th. Conceived as a prequel to Pet Semetary, Stephen King’s cult novel, the feature film obtained the writer’s approval, despite being an original screenplay. So let’s find out what convinced the Thrill King, who shared his opinion on the project in a post on X (formerly Twitter). Prequel to the novel Living Cemetery by Stephen King, the feature film, from a cinematic point of view, will connect to the 2019 adaptation.
Pet Sematary: Bloodlines – Stephen King promotes the prequel film
At the center of the story we find the young Jud Crandall, among the protagonists of the original work chosen by King himself as his scariest creation. In the late 1960s Jud is planning to leave his small hometown behind and move elsewhere. However, some of his family’s secrets, which have remained buried for too long, will force the protagonist to remain forever tied to the town of Ludlow. and to fight, together with his childhood friends, an evil linked to that place since its foundation.
As can be seen from King’s post, the plot is the first element to have been appreciated by the author. The writer has in fact highlighted that, although it is an original story, Pet Semetary: Bloodlines derives from a story that Jud shares with Louis Creed, to dissuade him from using the famous Cemetery of the title. According to the author the screenplay took quite a few liberties but respected the essence of the characters. Then there is room for some compliments to the cast, in particular to David Duchovny (Fox Mulder from The X-Files), whose performance is considered “excellent”. Alongside Duchovny we then find Jackson White, Pam Grier, Natalie Alyn Lind, Forrest Goodluck, Isabella Star LaBlanc, Samantha Mathis, Henry Thomas and Jack Mulhern.
