It is an extremely stimulating process for my creativity, because it allows me to quickly and easily incorporate my textures into everyday objects within everyone’s reach. Furthermore, I feel truly involved in the company’s commitment to sustainability: the Philips MyCreation Coastal Breeze project is in fact the demonstration that the union of design and innovation can give life to a more beautiful world and a more sustainable future”.

The lamps of the Philips MyCreation Coastal Breeze series are born from the application of the technology 3D printing to the lighting sector. They are characterized by the fluid and natural shapes and for the blue-green color of the fishing nets. Through an innovative circular economy process, they are transformed into new sources of light.

The four available textures of the Coastal Breeze lamps diffuse a calm and soft light in delicate shades of green and blue. The different textures and small imperfections due to the original material make each lamp is a unique and special piece.

The latter is a company that deals with recovering and processing used fishing nets in Cornwall into granules. The granulate is then converted into filament, the base material for 3D printing, a Maarheeze, in the Netherlands. Finally, the filament comes 3D printed in Turnhout, Belgiumgiving life to lamps with a unique and customizable design.

3D printed lamps reduce waste in the production phase. AND they are easier to disassemble and repair, as they do not use glues and have few screws. This also involves a reduction of emissions up to 76% in supply and production processes and up to 28% in transportmaking these lamps a carbon neutral solution compared to traditional production.
