For the nineteenth time, Pirelli is the Official Sole Supplier of Tires for the WSBK 2022, now in its thirty-fifth edition this year.
And for the season that kicks off on April 5th with the official tests on the Spanish circuit of MotorLand Aragónthe Milanese company brings to the track the new SCQ extra soft compound. This solution was designed for use in sprint races and time attacks. For this reason Pirelli has chosen to propose one extremely soft compound, more performing than the popular SCX. During the WorldSBK 2022 season, the SCQ solutions will therefore be available to teams and riders for the qualifying session and for the Sunday morning Superpole Race.
In WSBK class the riders will have eight dry solutions, three front and five rear solutions at their disposal.
Pirelli, here are the solutions available to the drivers of the WSBK 2022
The drivers in the race will be able to choose between three solutions per l’anteriorewhich include two of the range, the soft SC1 and the medium SC2, and a development one. The Development SC1, in specification A0674, it has already been used in 2021 in the races that took place in Jerez and Portimão. Compared to the standard SC1, it has a modification in the structure in order to increase the feeling and confidence in the corner entry phase and in maximum lean angle.
There are a total of five options to choose from for the tire as well rear: pilots have at their disposal three range options and two development options, both in the new extra soft SCQ compound. For tires “in range” there are medium solution SC1, that soft SC0 e super soft SCX, known during the previous season as the development solution A0557. The latter was, starting from its debut at the Misano round, the super soft solution most used by the riders.
The two SCQ solutions they are both development: the A1359 specification is the first SCQ solution validated by pilots during winter tests. He will be available both during testing and the next race weekend. There specification B0230 it represents an alternative available exclusively during the pre-Championship tests, to allow Pirelli technicians to continue the development and refinement work of this new compound.
