Buying a PlayStation 5 isn’t easy but sales continue to be high. The units available, in fact, are much lower than the requests from gamers all over the world. According to what Famitsu reported in these hours, however, Sony has reached an important milestone with its next generation console. For the PlayStation 5, in fact, the milestone of one million units sold in Japan.
Record sales for PlayStation 5 in Japan
The latest figures, updated to September 5, confirm the excellent sales results of the PlayStation 5 in Japan. The Sony console has exceeded 1 million units sold reaching, in the latest survey, the milestone of 1,012,656 units sold for the Japanese market. It should be noted that 847 thousand units are related to the standard model while the Digital Edition stopped at 165 thousand units sold.
Beat the PlayStation 4
It took the PlayStation 5 43 weeks to surpass one million units sold in Japan. This is a much higher result than what was recorded by the PlayStation 4. The previous Sony home console took approx one year (from February 2014 to January 2015) to reach the milestone of one million units sold.
The scarce availability of Sony’s next-generation console must therefore also be seen from the perspective of these data. The console is extremely in demand and has recorded excellent sales results since its commercial debut. Over the next few months, despite the few units available, the PlayStation 5 will certainly reach new sales records.
