PlayStation Plus as Game Pass: here are all the news

With an announcement on its official website, Sony has confirmed the expected rebranding of Playstation Plus, which now becomes very similar to Xbox Game Pass. The service will be divided into three different levels of subscription, called Essential, More Extras e Plus Premium. The first will remain unchanged, both in costs (€ 8.99 per month with the possibility of discounts on the quarterly and annual plan) and in the offer (two games per month, exclusive discounts, cloud storage space and online multiplayer). PlayStation Plus Extra it will instead cost € 13.99 per month (€ 39.99 for the quarterly plan and € 99.99 for the annual one) and includes all the benefits of Essential plus a “catalog of up to 400 of the best games for PS4 and PS5”, both proprietary that of third party developers.

PlayStation Plus Premium will cost € 16.99 per month (€ 49.99 for the quarterly subscription and € 119.99 for the annual subscription). This last level, in addition to including all the benefits of Essential and Extra, adds up to 340 titles for a total of more than 700 games for PS3, PS4 and PS5 in both cloud gaming and digital edition. Furthermore, to the delight of the most nostalgic, this last level also offers re-editions of games released for PS1, PS2 and PSP, both in the cloud and in download.

When will it arrive in Europe? And what will happen to PlayStation Now?

The new and updated PlayStation Plus it will arrive in Europe by the end of the year. The official launch will take place in June 2022 in Asia, resulting in a global expansion through December. This will result in a permanent closure of PlayStation Now, whose subscribers will automatically switch to Plus Premium (without any rate increases).

The post on the official website also announces some of the video games that will be included in the new catalog. In particular, Death Stranding, God of War, Marvel’s Spider-Man, Marvel’s Spider-Man: Miles Morales, Mortal Kombat 11 and Returnal are mentioned.
