Though PlayStation VR 2 still remains largely a mystery, Sony has just filed a patent showing the controllers of the new device dedicated to virtual reality branded PlayStation. By taking a look at the available documents it is already possible to get a preliminary idea of how the viewer will work, and how users will be able to control their movements via the controllers.
PlayStation VR 2: a new patent shows the controllers
Before starting to discover the content of the patent, we remind you that these documents are not necessarily linked to actual products, but in most cases it is simply a matter of idee e concept secured by companies. It is therefore not certain that what is contained in this patent corresponds to absolute reality, also because we have not yet seen the new PlayStation viewer.
The patent focuses mainly on the user hand detection, when the latter tries to interact with an image projected by the viewer. Such a viewer, which should be what the international community is calling simply for now PlayStation VR 2, should have a front chamber.
The movement of the player’s hands, on the other hand, should be calculated by the viewer itself or, alternatively, by a external device, connected to the headset via cable or wireless. A rather interesting prospect, and which opens the way for the personalization of the device even if only in part.
The patent also describes the controllers, as we have anticipated, which should present a ring that wraps around the user’s hand, while the accompanying drawings show three additional buttons that can be pressed using the middle, ring and little fingers.
Finally, the patent also indicates that PlayStation VR 2 may have a microphone, one speaker and gods sensors able to keep track of the operational status of the entire device, also managing to quantify the precise numbers in the case of local multiplayer games.
