PlayStation VR2 was finally announced by Sony at the CES 2022 conference, the upcoming new version of the company’s goggles dedicated to virtual reality will soon be with us. While the design of the device has not yet been shown, we already have some of the most important features.
Features of the PlayStation VR2
Among the features of the second version of Sony’s VR goggles we find:
- Visual fidelity: for a high fidelity viewing experience, PS VR2 offers 4K HDR and a 110 degree field of view. With an OLED display, gamers can expect a resolution of 2000 × 2040 per eye and smooth frame rates of 90 / 120Hz.
- Headset-based controller tracking: PS VR2 tracks the player and controller through the cameras built into the VR headset. The movements and direction you look are reflected in the game without the need for an external camera
- New sensory featuresPS VR2 Sense technology combines eye tracking, headphone feedback, 3D audio and the innovative PS VR2 Sense controller to create an incredibly deep immersive feeling. Headphone Feedback is a new sensory feature that amplifies the feel of the player’s gameplay. It is created by a single integrated engine with vibrations that add an intelligent tactile element, bringing players closer to the gaming experience. For example, players can feel a character’s elevated pulse during moments of tension, the rush of objects passing close to the character’s head, or the thrust of a vehicle as the character accelerates forward. Additionally, PS5’s Tempest 3D AudioTech brings the sounds in the player’s surroundings to life, adding to this new level of immersion.
- Eye Tracking : With eye tracking, PS VR2 detects the movement of your eyes, so a simple glance in a specific direction can create additional input for the game character. This allows players to interact more intuitively in new and realistic ways, allowing for greater emotional response and improved expression that provide a new level of realism in the game.
The PlayStation VR 2 Sense arrives
Together with the features of the viewer, those of the new controller have also been disclosed which, following the name of the DualSense, takes the name of PlayStation VR 2 Sense:
- Detection / Tracking: Motion Sensor: Six-axis motion detection system (three-axis gyroscope + three-axis accelerometer). Capacitive sensor: finger touch detection IR LED: position detection
- Feedback: Trigger effect (on the R2 / L2 button), haptic feedback

PlayStation VR2 price and availability
The price or availability of the new PlayStation VR2 viewer has not yet been revealed. We expect it to be released in the course of 2022.
Horizon Call of the Mountain su PlayStation VR 2
One of the first titles that it will be compatible with was also announced during the conference PlayStation VR2, it’s about Horizon Call of the Mountain. We are facing a chapter, presumably a spin-off, of Horizon Zero Dawn, the IP developed by Sony and Guerrilla Games.
