Pokémon Scarlet and Violet: How to get Pikachu

KillNet prevede nuovi attacchi: Italia è preda facile

Let’s find out together, in this dedicated guide, how to get Pikachu in Pokémon Scarlet and Violet, the new iteration of the Game Freak brand that recently arrived exclusively on Nintendo Switch: where will the most famous Pokémon hide?

Almost ten days have now passed since, last November 18, Pokémon Scarlet and Violet officially arrived exclusively on Nintendo Switch. We talked about it in detail in a dedicated review, which you can find by clicking here, and net of all the major flaws that the Game Freak series has almost accustomed us to seeing by now (although they are markedly tired in fact), we decided to promote it and hope, again, for the “next chapter”. The Pokémon that you can find in this new iteration are really many, it’s true, but we already know that many of you when you think of the Game Freak franchise always think only of him: Pikachu!

Before finding out how to get Pikachu in Pokémon Scarlet and Violet, we remind you that here on TechGameWorld.com we have already prepared some interesting themed guides for you. If you want to know what to know before starting to play you can click here, but we have also prepared an article dedicated to the best specimens of the Dragon, Fire and Earth types, as well as the one relating to the best starter to start with. That said, let’s find out how to get the most famous mouse on the planet!

Pikachu teratipo Volante?

First, let’s start with a kind of Pikachu… special! Special in what sense? If you purchase Pokémon Scarlet and Violet before February 28, 2023, you will be able to access this special version of Pikachu the Flying type which has two unique characteristics: it knows the Flight move (obviously normally inaccessible) and it is of the Flying theratype. To get it you will have to access the Secret Gift function in the Poké Portal (which you will unlock in the first few hours of the game), following these instructions:

  • Open your Game Menu by pressing the X key;
  • Scroll down until you reach the Poké Portal;
  • Scroll the entire Menu until you reach the “Secret Gift” option;
  • Choose the “Obtain via Internet” option;
  • Your Nintendo Switch will begin connecting to the network and searching for gifts. Then you should receive the notification “Dono Pikacu Teratipo Volante” on the screen;
  • Redeem and go!

If not Pikachu… at least Pichu? | Pokémon Scarlet and Violet: How to get Pikachu

The second option to get Pikachu at the beginning of the game is, of course, to try to catch him. Since the regions where the Pokémon is present are not reachable immediately, perhaps you should aim for its previous evolution: Pichu. Available from the first hours of the game and also quite easy to find, to get the yellow mouse you can follow the following tips:

  • To begin with, Pichu can be captured in the south-southwest areas of the game map, in particular in the central-south regions. You can find it easily near the small lake in the central south, or often near trees. It seems to be more active during the day than at night;
  • Once you find your Pichu, you can fight him directly or use the ZR key to throw him a Poké Ball, scare him and start the battle;
  • During the battle, you will necessarily have to lower Pichu’s life points to make it easier to capture, as well as with all other creatures. You can safely use simple Poké Ballssince all specimens are of a rather low level.
  • Once Pichu is captured, you can later evolve it into Pikachu!

If, on the other hand, you are in more advanced areas of the game, you can explore the areas where Pikachu is present. Consider that it is much rarer to find than Pichu, and therefore this could actually be the longest and least immediate method to obtain it. You can find Pikachu in the southwest, west, and east areas. If you can’t find it right away, you can try changing the time of day or changing the area and then come back, because this way you can reset the Pokémon present.

Also, to increase your chances of getting Pikachu in Pokémon Scarlet and Violet you can resort to some dishes of food in particular. Especially those who increase the chance of encounters with Electric-type Pokémonthere are really many and you just need to read the descriptions to choose them.

Finally… trading! | Pokémon Scarlet and Violet: How to get Pikachu

The last method is definitely the most immediate: trading Pokémon with other players online. You can choose this option from your PokéPortal and the game will allow you to access two modes. Link trading will allow you to transfer creatures with friends near and far. Once you select this option, the game will allow you to find your friend’s Nintendo Switch console or set up a Code to exchange for you to make the transition.

The magical exchange, on the other hand, it’s not highly recommended if you’re looking for a particular Pokémon, because you won’t be able to choose the incoming creature. However, it will allow you to trade Pokémon with anyone in the world and who knows, even get some special surprises!
