If novice Trainers don’t have a trained eye, the seasoned editor will take care of it: here are the differences between Pokémon Scarlet and Violet
Finding yourself here means that you don’t have it in your hands yet Pokémon Scarlet or Violet: yeah, we don’t use the conjunction “and” precisely because there are some differences which is good to know. Over the years, the discrepancies between the versions have gotten bigger (and sometimes smaller), so it’s normal that you’re wondering which is better to spend (or better, invest) your sixty of Euro. No problem: we’ve trained ourselves in the art of brooding around here, and we’ll steer you so that you’re able to come to a conclusion. So, without further ado, let’s get started…
The Academy – Differences between Pokémon Scarlet and Violet
The first of the (more or less) big differences between Pokémon Scarlet and Violet is school. Depending on the version you have, the institution at the center of the narrative universe can have one color or another. Keeping faith with the color of the variant of the game, you could wear orange (and be enrolled in theOrange Academy) or purple (Grape Academy). This uniform, although less customizable than we would have preferred to see, carries a crest: in multiplayer, including the co-op of the circle, the students of the two institutes can recognize each other thanks to the symbol. Facilitating, therefore, any negotiation for exclusive creatures.
The Professor and the Professor – Differences between Pokémon Scarlet and Violet
Similarly, for the first time in the series the type of Professor varies from version to version. The holders of Scarlet will have to deal with the attractive (“cchiù wild, cchiù lioness”) Once upon a timewhile Violetto players will receive instructions from the “gigachad” The tower. One would think that the repercussions on the plot could be enormous, but in reality all that changes is that Pepe (spoiler for the first… ten minutes of the game, maybe?) calls her “mom” and him “dad”. The vague lore of the series has established in the past that the two versions are parallel timelines, which explains everything…
The exclusive creatures – Differences between Pokémon Scarlet and Violet
… and, at the same time, does not explain why the Pokédex also include the exclusive creatures. The game design idea that’s been around since the late 90s (aside from selling more games, but that’s it) is to encourage players to interact with each other, in case they have the same version. The result translates into the possibility of finding some little monsters in certain areas and others, in their place, in the same place depending on the variant in your console. Instead of a list, we’d prefer a simpler image to help you understand which beasts to put your heart at peace with. And while we’re at it…
Past and future
… let’s go back to the main themes glimpsed with the two professors. The forced coexistence of the present with one’s temporal roommate depends on the version. Olim, and by extension Koraidonsymbolizes the past, while Turum, related in design to Miraidongoes hand in hand with the future. Leaving aside the types of the two cover legendaries (for which we refer you to our guide to dragons), the Paldea chasm (also called Area Zero) in the center of the region is home to several “Pokemon Paradosso” (image above, below), which are past versions of other creatures in Scarlet and future counterparts in Violet. Ironically, each version hosts alternate incarnations of exclusive monsters to each other!
