Emma Stone, who is also the producer of the film, plays Bella Baxter, a new female version of Frankenstein. “A woman charting her own course to freedom”, this is the presentation of the protagonist, monstrous and beautiful at the same time. In addition to her, the cast is full of brilliant stars: Mark Ruffalo, Willem Dafoe, Ramy Youssef and Jerrod Carmichael are just some of the names that have enriched the set of Poor creatures.
The film is presented as “a story with a happy ending”. Will be a story of growth, training and emancipation, which will follow the synchronization between Bella’s body and brain step by step. Bella, nomen omen, is the monstrous creature that in truth she is not really monstrous, on the contrary. The movie is the adaptation of Alasdair Gray’s 1992 novel of the same name, in Italy translated under the title of Life and mysteries of the first female doctor of England. The literary version of this story greatly fascinated Yorgos Lanthimos, former director of The Lobster (2015), The Sacrifice of the Sacred Deer (2017) and The Favorite (2018).
