Jonathan Kent was previously played by Glenn Ford in Superman: The Movie, John Schneider in Smallville, Fred Henderson in Superman & Lois, and by Kevin Costner in the DC Extended Universe films. We'll see in the film Clark Kent trying to reconcile his Kryptonian origins with his time on Earth in Smallville. Superman will be the embodiment of truth, justice and the American way, guided by human kindness in a world that considers kindness old-fashioned.
