S ony fights touts head-on: the direct sales program, “PlayStation Direct”, will distribute PS5 stocks in Europe
The American division of Sony has already launched the program PlayStation Direct (not to be confused with the State of Play that awaits us tonight at 11pm) to sell their own PS5 stocks without running into touts, but now it arrives in Europe. The official confirmation comes from a conference between the Japanese giant and its shareholders, where Jim Ryan has officially confirmed that the program opened in September 2019 for PS4 will do the same with the unobtainable successor of the platform. This announcement follows last December’s job offer, posted online by SIE itself.
PlayStation Direct: PS5 dodges touts in Europe
According to the job offer in question, Sony Interactive Entertainment intends to take advantage of the excellent launch of PS5 in America by bringing the same PlayStation Direct service to Europe. The online store it is not yet planned for the Italian opening: the territories concerned will in fact be Germany, United Kingdom, Ireland, France, Belgium, Holland and Luxembourg. In a rush of ambition, Jim Ryan (below) talked about revenues for fiscal years 2019 and 2020, the latter of which brought over $ 200 million into Sony’s coffers. The company’s registered office will be in London.
Despite this, the fledgling European branch of the service will have to respond to the American management, at least in the first period. The headquarters of the transoceanic division is located in San Francisco. Either way, we foresee (rightfully so) a hard life due to the unfortunate situation of touting surrounding Sony’s new flagship console.
