The new Qualcomm Snapdragon 898, The company’s top-of-the-range SoC, will make its own debut on the market by the end of 2021 thanks to Xiaomi. In fact, the Chinese company will present the first device with Snapdragon 898, or the new Xiaomi 12. Subsequently, the SoC will also be proposed by a new Motorola smartphone and, progressively, by all the main top of the Android range of the next months.
The new Qualcomm Snapdragon 898 will debut with a Xiaomi smartphone
The new Xiaomi 12 should make its debut by the end of the current year and, among the specifications, it will be able to count on the new Snapdragon 898. The SoC will be officially unveiled by Qualcomm, as usual, at the beginning of December but is practically ready to debut.
As previously pointed out, the smartphone will subsequently be proposed by Motorola. Also Samsung will make Snapdragon 898 variants of its new Galaxy S21. Other manufacturers are also preparing innovations with the new 898. The top of the range to arrive on the market in the first half of 2022 will therefore be different.
A new step forward for Qualcomm
According to the first benchmarks, the new Snapdragon 898 should guarantee 15% higher performance than Snapdragon 888 and 5% higher than Snapdragon 888+. Instead, the energy consumption that could be significantly lower than that of the current top of the range of Qualcomm should be evaluated.
