Fabio Sbaraglia’s statements on the Ravenna Nightmare Film Fest 2021
The first to speak in the presentation conference was the Councilor for Culture Fabio Sbaraglia, which stated
The common trait that during the pandemic characterized almost all the realities that make culture in Ravenna was that of doing everything to ‘be there’ anyway. And this festival was no exception. In 2020 he created a content-rich online edition. Today, taking advantage of that experience, the Nightmare finally returns to the room. And it is a great joy for everyone. This, however, continuing to propose online screenings for those who cannot be physically present
In this edition, moreover, theSpecial Edition Gold Ring with Pupi Avati, considered the repository of the rural gothic horror genre and the face of the official poster of the nineteenth edition. Celebrated among those who have explored the dark side of cinema the most, La Casa dalle Windows has been selected from among his works. The Medal of Valor will also be awarded to director Roberto De Feo on the opening night of the event, of which A Classic Horror Story, which we got to know and appreciate some time ago, will be screened.
The feature films and short films in competition
The most important selection of the Festival will be the International Short and Feature Film Competition, which will be joined by the Showcase Emilia-Romagna and SHORTer and Japanese October sections, enhanced by the collaboration and presence of Maestro Koji Yamamura.
In particular, after the screening in the preview evening of 23 October with the screening of the documentary They Shall Not Grow Old of none other than Peter Jackson. It continues on Sunday 31 October with Out of the past by J. Torneur, The lake of wild geese by Diao Yinan, the great shorts by the Japanese master Yamamura, The boy behind the door by D. Chabonier and the fantastic The Book of Vision by Carlo Hintermann. Monday 1 November is the turn of the film Laura by Otto Preminger and the presentation of all the short films of the Contemporary section. And then The admirable vision of Luigi Sapelli e The Alternate by Arik Brussel. Beyond the storm by Marco Cassini and Little Joe by Jessica Hausner conclude the evening.
Tuesday 2 November P. Karlson’s River Street, Ran Slavin’s Call for Dreams, Lois Patiño’s Red Moon Tide, Oscar Martin’s Amigo and Edgar Reiz’s Heimat. Tuesday will also be the evening of the ShortER section, created to promote and highlight the short films produced in Emilia Romagna. Wednesday 3 November is time for a Masterclass with a meeting dedicated to schools. Also scheduled are the film Carmen Vidal by Eva Dans and the new La terra dei figli by Claudio Cupellini. Thursday 4 November space for other Masterclasses and the film Playdurim by G. Deger, followed by The Catholic School of S. Mordini.
The film is scheduled for Friday 5 November The dragon of Romagna by G. Lamattina, Post Mortem by P. Bergendi and Where are you by R. Spinotti, introduced by the Oscar-winning father Dante Spinotti. On Saturday 6 November, the special Gold Ring award will be awarded to Pupi Avati, followed by the screening of the film The house with laughing windows. The film is also on the program Vampire by Branko Tomovic and In the Shadow by Edrem Tepegoz. Sunday 7 November big closing with the Training Course dedicated to the world of schools.
