Realme, the world’s fastest growing smartphone brand and top 5 Android smartphone brands globally, announced that the realme 8 5G and 8i smartphones have been approved by the Eco Rating labeling system, confirming a solid commitment to environmental sustainability and its vision of a green company.
Eco Rating was jointly established by five of Europe’s leading mobile operators – Deutsche Telekom, Orange, Telefónica, Telia Company and Vodafone, to create an inclusive labeling system for the entire industry.
By assessing the environmental impact of the entire process of production, transport, use and disposal of mobile devices, Eco Rating will help consumers make sensible and sustainable choices by offering an overall score from 1 to 100. The closer the score is to 100, the better the smartphone’s sustainability.
Realme 8 5G and 8i were both rewarded with high scores, achieving equally significant results in resource efficiency: realme 85G scored 85/100 while 8i 90/100.
Madhav Sheth, Vice President of realme, President of realme International Business Group, CEO of realme Europe, commented: “We are constantly striving for a better future and always being transparent with our customers. The Eco Rating labeling system is a step forward towards the realization of an increasingly sustainable future. realme confirms its vision also thanks to the E-waste Management program which encourages the safe recycling of electronic waste, with the ambitious goal of developing increasingly eco-friendly products in the near future “.
“In line with a number of products we have launched, including smartphones, headsets and tablets, we proactively support the combination of technology and environment: Going and Living Green. At the same time – conclude Madhav Sheth – we are developing a unique ecological smartphone, with the commitment to enormously reduce CO2 emissions; the product will arrive in Europe shortly ”.
