realme continues his growth trend in 2022, even at a time when all the other brands in the top five in Europe are failing to do so. Compared to the first quarter of 2021, it is the only brand in the top 5 in the positive second Counterpoint.
realme continues to grow in 2022, even as others decline
Counterpoint’s research leaves no room for interpretation: all the top 5 brands of smartphones sold less in the first quarter of 2022 than in 2021. All, except realme. Supply chain problems, inflation, geopolitics: there are many reasons why brands like Samsung and Apple have dropped their sales in Europe. Also because last year’s numbers were hard to beat.
Samsung compared to last year it lost two points of market share, from 37 to 35%. But above all, the growth is at -16%. Apple it rises by one point to 25%, but the growth in shipments remains negative at -6%. Xiaomi it loses 5 market points reaching 14%, with sales volume drops of + 36%. Oppo it remains at 6% as a market share, losing -8% in volume.
Instead it really comes out from 2 to 4%, with a crescentita year on year by + 67%. Even with ambitious marketing strategies: just think of the GT NEO 3 Naruto Edition e realme GT NEO 3T Dragon Ball Z Edition.
If last year realme was in the European Top 10, today it is stable in the Top 5. According to the May report by Canalys, it rises to fourth place with a growth rate of 177% in Q1 2022. And in the whole year, it goes up a lot with a tannual ace of + 518%.
The company has also started targeting flagships with realme GT 2 Proon the occasion of the Mobile World Congress 2022. But the key to success seems to be the ability to reach all segments of the market, with many products in different price ranges.
