Although the first place on the Steam chart has been conquered by the PC version of God of War, Monster Hunter Rise continues to be a big hit for Capcom, and has just crossed the finish line of eight million in sales all over the world, also thanks to the launch of the video game on PC. Specifically, Rise peaked at 114,048 active players on PC and is Capcom’s second largest launch for the platform.
Monster Hunter Rise: sales record
This is a great result for Monster Hunter Rise, who is second only to for the moment Monster Hunter World in terms of active players. However, there is an important detail to point out: Rise is yet to receive its G expansion, Sunbreak, this summer, an occasion in which it is very likely that it will exceed the numbers of its predecessor, assuming that Capcom knows how to exploit the momentum of success.
Despite Monster Hunter Rise, in fact, it is an excellent one action RPG, the development in full pandemic from Covid-19 made itself felt, also thanks to the support that is not always in focus offered by Capcom. In any case, Rise is undoubtedly one of the best Monster Hunters to approach the saga with, and certainly one of the chapters of the franchise with the combat system more layered than there is.
Meanwhile, the software house is currently working on the G expansion of the title, as we mentioned earlier, and has promised news by this spring. We already know that with this DLC will be added at least one new ecosystem and new monsters inspired by European folklore, of which we have already seen the Malzeno, an elder dragon inspired by a vampire, and the Lunagaroon, a werewolf-based beast.
In short, to find out more we will have to wait a few more months, but we have no doubts that Capcom will have some pleasant surprises in store for us.
