Respect: the Italian trailer of the biopic with Jennifer Hudson
Respect is the true story of Aretha Franklin’s journey to find her voice, in the midst of America’s turbulent social and political landscape of the 1960s. The film tells, in fact, the private and artistic parable of a woman who represented an example for all the black American community during the years of segregation, to then become a world-class star, also entering the cinematographic collective imagination thanks to John Landis it’s at The Blues Brothers.
Directed by Liesll Tommy, on his feature film debut, but already behind the camera for some episodes of the Marvel series Jessica Jones, Respect has a very respectable cast.
The Oscar winner Jennifer Hudson she will play Aretha Franklin; the actress was personally chosen for the role by the “Queen of Soul” herself, prior to her death in August 2018. Hudson is joined by Forest Whitaker, who plays Franklin’s father and Marlon Wayans as Ted White (Franklin’s first husband); together with them, we will find Audra McDonald, Marc Maron, Tituss Burgess, Saycon Sengbloh, Hailey Kilgore, Skye Dakota Turner, Tate Donovan e Mary J. Blige.
The film will be released in the United States on August 13, while for Italy Eagle Pictures has scheduled a theatrical release on October 7, 2021. We are confident that the film will soon become another working success for sensational Jennifer Hudson.
