Be Quiet! is the German company that (hush hush) has learned to make itself known for the goodness of its products. Among the various hardware components it offers, it is also known for making really good power supplies. We have already had the opportunity to review some of them. Never before, though, had we gotten our hands on the flagship series. Dark Power it is in fact the model that promises the greatest efficiency thanks to the certification 80 Plus Titanium.
What we have had the pleasure of analyzing is the latest model in the series, namely the Be Quiet! Dark Power 13 da 850w. Whether it is valid or not, however, you will find out only in the course of this review!
Unboxing – Review Be Quiet! Dark Power 13
The unboxing of this Dark Power 13 certainly anticipates the premium nature of the product. The large box is divided into two sections. On the right we will be able to find the well-packed power supply. On the left, however, there is a box containing all the cables and Velcro straps. Let’s make a list of the accessories included:
- 1 x 24Pin ATX Cable: Length 600mm;
- 2 x 8-pin 12V cables: one 4+4 and one 8-pin. Length 700mm;
- 1 PCIe 5.0 cable (12VHPWR): length 600mm;
- 2 PCIe cables (2×6+2 pin): length 600mm;
- 1 cavo x2 S-ATA e x2 HDD;
- 2×3 S-ATA cables;
- 1 cable x4 S-ATA;
- 1 Overclocking key;
- 1 Overclocking jumper.
Now let’s move on to the first aesthetic impressions of the power supply. Dark Power 13 is very elegant. Made entirely of black aluminum, it has a large grille on the underside, where the fan is located. While on the one hand we will find the name of the model made with a chrome finish, on the other there will be the technical specifications. On the front there are all the inputs, while on the back we find the power button, the input for the power supply and the holes to fix it to the case. The product measures 175mm x 150mm x 86mm and weighs 1.97kg.
Ready for Battle – Be Quiet Review! Dark Power 13
With Dark Power 13 you won’t have to worry about practically anything. Let’s start first with the certification. Let’s talk about a 80 Plus Titanium with a certified efficiency of 95.4%. This is the highest certification a power supply can have.
Being a feeder ATX 3.0in addition, it is also equipped with the brand new 12VHPWR connector for new generation video cards, as well as the classic 6+2 pin for current boards. Of course it is fully modular. This means that there will be no additional cables that will complicate cable management.
Even overclocking enthusiasts are satisfied thanks to theOverclocking key. The module allows you to switch from multi-rail to single-rail mode with the push of a button, increasing the stability of the power supply in the most difficult scenarios.
Speaking of cooling, the installed fan is a 135mm Silent Wing that reaches a maximum speed of 1800rpm. In terms of noise level, Be Quiet! declares a maximum peak of 19.8dB(A) at full load and we can only say. Thanks to the structure that holds the fan, this is practically free of frames and cables. This results in more efficient dissipation and inaudible noise.
The capacitors installed in this series are Japanese with a nominal temperature of 105 °C. Testing the power supply with this build we didn’t encounter any problems whatsoever. As if that were not enough, in addition to the certifications, Be Quiet! guarantees the product for 10 years.
Conclusions and prices
Be Quiet! Dark Power 13 turned out to be a mister feeder. A truly quality product that can easily be purchased and used for your current build, but which can also handle future configurations. Precisely thanks to the latest technologies implemented, its efficiency and a top cooling system, it is promoted with flying colors. True, the price is high, but justified by the quality of the components used.
