It was definitely one of the most anticipated games of 2023 and is undoubtedly the game of the moment. We are obviously talking about Hogwarts Legacy, released on February 10, and which in less than a month has already set several sales records. The title, registered Warner Bros. Games and developed by Avalanche Softwareindeed it is the best-selling title in company history, with over 12 million units for $850 million in revenue. All only in the first two weeks of launch on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S and PC. The version for PlayStation 4, Xbox One and Nintendo Switch is out on April 4th.
Recall that Hogwarts Legacy is a single player open world action RPG set in the fictional universe of the Harry Potter books J.K. Rowling. The story of the game takes place about 100 years before the events of the Harry Potter books.
Hogwarts Legacy: sales, figures and balance sheets two weeks after launch
Already last week, pending sales data, Warner Bros. Games had made it known that the game already counted 267 million hours played, 393 million magical plants grown, 242 million potions brewed, and 1.25 billion Dark wizards defeated. With today’s data, however, we know that the game has well exceeded 280 million hours of play, selling 12 million copies, becoming the best-selling Warner Bros. Games title at launch. The game has also set new streaming record: it is in fact the first single-player title on Twitchpeaking at 1.28 million concurrent viewers.
