Lately, a new trend seems to have appeared for PC users, whether they are laptop or desktop owners. Even in the gaming field, in reality, this trend seems to be gradually becoming more and more present. We are talking about “minimal setup”: work or play stations that are concentrated in a truly minute space, or characterized by a clean and simple design.
Whether you are a fan of the gaming world or not, however, you will know well that in a home setup (whether this is minimal or not) one of the fundamental parts is the seat. Sitting for several hours, both scholars and those who work on the PC or, more simply, gamers, you can very well realize that having a good chair / armchair becomes essential.
If you have been following our pages for a while, you will know that this is not the first time that we have talked about gaming chairs. Between economic models and medium-high-end models, this is a topic that we have already studied in depth. It is the first time, however, that we speak of Secretlab: an avant-garde brand in the world of gaming chairs. The protagonist of this review is their very latest TITAN Evo 2022 which looks like their best model, with very special features. Let’s move on to the analysis of this Secretlab TITAN Evo 2022 to see if it is actually worth spending a high amount for a type of product that is often underestimated.

Let’s start by saying that this chair belongs to one high price range. In fact, we start from a cost of 490,00€ regarding the version in leather-like. The chair is available in three measures: Small, Regular e XL. Even with regard to coatings, we have three choices between “Hybrid semi-skin”, “SoftWave Plus fabric” e “NAPA leatherWhich, at least for the moment, is not available. About the fabric version we can choose between ben eight different colors. The version in semi-leather, on the other hand, it makes aesthetics its workhorse since you can choose well 40 different colors, including numerous collaborations (The Witcher, Harry Potter, Batman and League of Legend are just a few of them).

What do we find in the package? | Secretlab TITAN Evo 2022 review
We have already specified: this is a high-end chair and this is evident from the packaging and packaging. The chair, in fact, is enclosed by one thick cardboard box, in order to avoid any damage caused by the trip. Once the package is opened (which already spoils the color of our chair), the first thing we will find in front of us will be a huge black hardcover with the SL logo and the authenticity sticker. If shot, however, this will reveal the instructions for mounting with attached photos.
The quality of the packaging is excellent. Not only is each section covered with a really thick sponge, but certain parts are protected by very thick cardboard. The chair arrives broken down into a few pieces and, therefore, the assembly will take a very short time to complete.
Let it be back that the sitting I am individually wrapped. Then we have the metal base placed on one side, while the wheels and the piston included in a box. The armrests are initially devoid of the top cover, which is also included in another package. The screw container includes a branded key, to which we could anchor (in a magnetic way) both an Allen wrench and a screwdriver; this represents thethe only tool that we will need throughout the assembly. Last but not least is the cuscino in memory foam, always bagged.
Assembly phase | Secretlab TITAN Evo 2022 review
We do not deny you in telling you that assembly took like 20 minutes ma just because we did it ourselves. Thanks to the very clear instructions on the “billboard” which, among other things, also suggests how to extract certain parts from the package, we have not had any kind of problem.
Starting from the hydraulic piston and the wheels engaged in the base, up to the screws needed to anchor the backrest to the seat, everything went smoothly. All holes were lined up correctly and, from personal experience, we tell you that it is by no means taken for granted. The armrests are already mounted and, therefore, the work is practically reduced to the bone. Speaking of the armrests, the upper parts (on which we will lean our forearms) are anchored in a magnetic way, making them easily replaceable in case of problems. Magnetic are also the covers on the sides of the back which serve to hide the metal section and the screws. Magnetic, however (and above all), is the cervical pillow can be positioned without using elastic behind our neck.
A welcome gem is the “safe“Red color that we will have to unscrew during assembly, which prevents the backrest from folding accidentally.
Although it is very easy to assemble this armchair yourself, we recommend that you get someone to help you, especially when you have to join the backrest with the seat. This is because it will be necessary to press the backrest down to be fixed with the screws. Also, some help comes in handy when you have to flip the chair over given the weight that’s not quite a feather.
VS Fabric Leatherette
The model we chose for the tests is characterized by the SoftWave Plus fabric and from one Arctic White coloring. Based on my past experiences, having tested fabric and leatherette seats, I believe that, although the latter are easier to clean and can be more elegant, the fabric wins hands down in everyday use. The reason is soon said since breathability is something essential, especially in humid places or on hot summer days. And then let’s face it, this TITAN Evo 2022 in white color is really a pleasure for the eyes.

The SoftWave Plus fabric is an excellent material, very soft, which does not heat up and is visibly resistant. The seams present on the whole body of the chair they are very precise; at most we will find a few fluttering threads that we can cut with a scissors. The only note concerns the color that differs slightly in tone from the images on the site. White, for example, is more of a very light gray. In general, we recommend that you take a look at photos taken by users in order to choose more precisely. Beautiful details in alcantara (or similar) sui lati, in addition to the sewn logos on both the front and rear backrest. Just the back hosts a nice black silicone tag that, in case you approach your smartphone equipped with NFC, will ensure the authenticity of the product.
The base of the chair is completely in aluminum, as well as the piston and the lower part that joins the whole. The internal section of the armrests is also in aluminum, but also the mechanism that joins the seat to the backrest and which, therefore, allows the latter to be spread out. Although the levers to adjust the height, the inclination of the seat and that of the backrest have a plastic handle, the interior is always made of metal.
The knobs aimed at adjusting the lumbar support, placed one on the right side and one on the left side, have a rubber coating and are made of plastic. THE armrest covers are made in fairly rigid spongy material. Thanks to the matte finish these are very smooth and will allow our arms to move quietly.
Comfort and use | Secretlab TITAN Evo 2022 review
As soon as we sat down on the Secretlab TITAN Evo 2022, we realized how the padding was particularly stiff. Initially, we twisted our noses a bit, but testing it over long sessions we realized that this is undoubtedly the best feature of the armchair. With other chairs we tested it was not unusual that, after a few tens of minutes, we would feel pain in the back, especially in the lower back. This Secretlab model, on the other hand, has never “betrayed” us. The only times we were forced to get up it was only to stretch our legs.
Speaking of size, no problem here either. Being 181cm tall, I chose the Standard size, which adapted perfectly to my conformation. It back is nice wide and it will not force us to be closed in on ourselves. Also there sitting is very comfortable and, in case you were wondering, there is even room to keep your legs crossed.
Regarding the adjustments, absolutely nothing is missing. THE armrests enjoy well six different heights, while it will be possible rotate them, move them indoors and outdoors, as well as forward or backward. These are abundantly spacious and solid. Furthermore, by slightly unscrewing the M8 screws that keep them anchored to the seat, they can be spaced or even closer together. The only flaw: moving them make some noise due to the mix of plastic and metal of which they are composed.
Through the lever on the right we can tilt the backrest from 85 ° up to 165 °. Still on the right, but at the bottom, there is an additional lever that serves a adjust the height of the chair. Its twin, placed on the left, however, allows us to do swing the seat, or lock it at a certain angle. We have found it particularly useful to lock the seat slightly leaning back, so as not to be tempted to move forward with the back and assume incorrect postures. There is also the possibility of manage and block the swing of the session, through the knob underneath.
