We can finally announce the release date of the new Disney Plus series, set in Japan: Shōgun. Let’s discover it together
After the announcement of the US release date of the Hulu TV series, Shōgun, now we can finally announce the one scheduled for Italy. This new production will soon arrive in our country, on the Disney Plus streaming channel, owner of the Hulu rights. The series, set in feudal Japan is the adaptation of Rachel Kondo e Justin Marks of one of the most beloved novels of James Clavell.
The release date | Shōgun: Italian release date revealed
We had already announced previously that the show would debut on Disney Plus in February. Now we can be more specific and announce that it will arrive on the streaming channel on February 27. It will be a major global event, which will also bring the series to the United States, via Hulu ed FX and in Latin America, on Star+. Shōgun will be composed of 10 episodes, but initially only two will be released. The remainder will be made available, one by one, every week.
Plot and cast
Recall that Shōgun will tell a story set in 1600, in Japan, at the beginning of a civil war. We will follow the events of Lord Yoshii Toranaga, forced to face the political enemies of the Council of Regents, ganged up against him. His life takes a turn when a mysterious European ship is found abandoned in a fishing village. Its English pilot was also found together with the vessel, John Blackthorne. The man can be very useful to Lord Toranaga, in order to overwhelm his enemies. Their destinies will also intertwine with their interpreter, Toda Marikoa noblewoman with a mysterious family lineage.
The main cast consists of Hiroyuki Sanada, Cosmo Jarvis e Anna Sawai. Shōgun was adapted from Rachel Kondo e Justin Marks. Marks is also the miniseries’ showrunner and executive producer.
