Wanted Cinema is proud to bring Sick of Myself, the dazzling debut feature film written, directed and edited by Norwegian artist Kristoffer Borgli (who later also made Dream Scenario) to Italian cinemas from 28 September. After the preview in the Un Certain Regard section at the last Cannes Film Festival, “Sick of Myself, an unromantic comedy”, offers the Italian public a particular sentimental comedywith an elegant and extreme concept at the same time.

An atypical and original film that has aroused the interest of audiences and critics, shot entirely in 35mm. The talented protagonist, Kristine Kujath Thorp – known for films and TV series such as Fanny (2018), Ninja Baby (2021), The North Sea (2021) The Promised Land (2023) – plays the character of Signe, an anonymous waitress who does not hesitate to use a very dangerous means to get noticed by the world. Sick of myself is an anti-romance, toxic and dysfunctional, an enlightening contemporary parable permeated by timeless themes such as narcissism and envy. The director said:
I wanted to make an unpleasant story in the most beautiful way possible. It all fortunately translated into a beautiful portrait of terrible things.
The plot, however, is as follows:
Signe and Thomas are in an unhealthy relationship, in constant competition with each other. Everything cracks even more when Thomas begins to establish himself as a contemporary artist. In response, Signe launches into a desperate attempt to draw attention to himself, even at the cost of her health.
