The smartphone shipments to Europe. The research agency Counterpoint Research, in fact, recorded an 11% decline compared to last year, with a decrease of 13% compared to the first quarter of 2022. A rather critical situation for the sector.
Smartphone: shipments to Europe are decreasing visibly
Sad situation for smartphone shipments in Europe, which recorded the worst quarter in the sector after the second quarter of 2020, when the Old Continent was in full pandemic. According to the data reported, in the second quarter of 2022 they would have been 40.3 million devices shipped. A decidedly reduced number compared to 56.6 million in December 2021. A situation that does not seem to concern Apple, Samsung e realme, whose shipments to Europe grew by 3%, 9% and 21% respectively. But if we look at the last two quarters of the year, only Xiaomi he really manages to save himself from such a difficult situation.
The Chinese company, in fact, has managed to increase the number of shipments from 6.1 million of the first quarter to 7.5 million of the second. An increase that does not seem to have been successful for Apple and Samsung, who have suffered the economic crisis experienced by users, who are increasingly willing to spend less on smartphones. Despite this, Apple, Samsung and Realme continue to be Europe’s largest distributors. Yet, Counterpoint Research reports that “the situation in Europe unfortunately remains grim. Many countries are approaching recession, with internal political tensions rising, for example in France, Germany and the UK. We remain confident, however, that the trajectory should soon return to the upside, even if the recovery is likely to be long and slow “.
