Sony introduces the latest in the full-frame G Master lens series, the must-have FE 35mm F1.4 GM, precise and bright
Sony has revealed the latest addition to the full-frame G-Master series: with its exceptional image quality and beautiful bokeh effects, the FE 35mm F1.4 GM lens (model SEL35F14GM) ensures a variety of expressive capabilities in a lightweight and extremely compact design. Combined with Sony E-mount cameras, it has advanced focusing capabilities serving a wide range of photo and video applications, from landscape and portrait shooting to street photography.

Sony’s state-of-the-art optical design and manufacturing technology bring stunning resolution, beautiful bokeh and precision focusing to a compact lens. With a weight of only 524 grams, dimensions equal to 76 mm dia. x 96mm and Φ67mm filter diameter, the lens fits perfectly in the palm of your hand. The advanced optical technology of the FE 35mm F1.4 GM is synonymous with extraordinary contrasts and first-rate resolution, guaranteed over the entire image area by two XA (Extreme Aspherical) elements. Simple to handle, this compact 35mm lens boasts spectacular performance even in difficult lighting conditions. An ED glass element and further optical enhancements suppress chromatic aberration and purple halos with stunning results.
FE 35mm F1.4 GM features an almost circular aperture, thanks to a unique 11-blade structure, a level of quality rare for such a compact lens. The meticulous control of spherical aberration, in the design and production phase, contributes to the beautiful bokeh effects typical of G Master optics that make the subjects of the photographs stand out. The new lens features advanced focus
Two Sony XD (Extreme Dynamic) linear motors ensure the efficiency and high power, essential for autofocus (AF) and precision tracking, synonymous with excellent resolution at any distance. Innovative control algorithms specially developed for XD linear motors maximize response and accuracy and minimize vibrations and noise for fast, smooth and quiet AF performance. Even when shooting at high frame rates, you can take advantage of the advanced focus.
The linear response MF functionality is ideal for creative effects in video shooting as it ensures the response of the ring to slight movements during manual focus. Rotating the focus ring directly corresponds to a change of focus for immediate and precise control.
The Sony FE 35mm F1.4 GM lens offers full professional control with a focus lock button and focus mode switch for even more practical and efficient use. The aperture ring with stop on / off switching can be disabled for shooting and, with an APS-C camera or Super 35 angle of view, the FE 35mm F1.4 GM can be used as a standard 52.5mm equivalent lens to make it the ideal choice for video creation.
The focus lock button can be assigned to many other functions from the camera menu to provide direct access to essential options for photographers and videographers. Distinguished by high reliability, the new lens is able to withstand dust and moisture. The fluorine coating on the front lens protects against water, grease and other contaminants.
