SpaceX sent 100,000 terminals Starlink to buyers, who will thus be able to take advantage of the Internet connectivity service via satellite. This was announced by the CEO of the technology company, Elon Musk. For the company this is a fundamental event.
Starlink covers now 14 regions: we are talking about United States of America, Canada, United Kingdom, France, Germany, Holland, Ireland, Austria, Belgium, Switzerland, Denmark, Australia, New Zealand and Portugal. For the moment, Italy does not figure among the areas served, but it could only be a matter of time.
SpaceX’s goal for Starlink
The goal is obviously to connect all over the globe, and the company is trying to get the necessary authorizations all over the world. The service was launched last November, in mode Beta. It is designed to serve areas that, for various reasons, they are not easily accessible from the wired Internet connection.
At the moment there are 1800 satellites in orbit, but Starlink aims to add more 42 thousand in the future. This is definitely an ambitious project, which aims to reduce the gap between the various areas of the world in terms of connection quality.

Elon Musk’s social enthusiasm
Elon Musk, who as mentioned has expressed all his satisfaction on Twitter, is certainly not new to futuristic projects. He loves arousing media hype around his innovative companies, and always aiming for ambitious goals for the whole world. Tesla, PayPal e SpaceX e Neuralink they are the fruit of this entrepreneurial philosophy.
In a historical moment in which the Internet connection is practically a basic necessity, a project of this kind designed for cover areas far from infrastructure is very important. We hope that Italy will also open its doors to Starlink as soon as possible, so as to be able to test the new technology in our territory as well.
