Google Cloud e Spotify they announced aexpansion of their strategic partnership to enhance usage of artificial intelligence (AI) and machine learning (ML). Dal 2016, Google Cloud is the cloud provider of choice for Spotifywhich currently counts beyond 574 million monthly active users. This new chapter of the collaboration will involve the use of Google Cloud AI tools to improve crucial aspects of the platform Spotify.
Spotify and Google Cloud, together for artificial intelligence
The partnership includes exploring the use of AI tools Of Google Cloud from Spotify to improve fundamental aspects of the platform. As:
- Content discovery: through the use of large language models (LLMs), Spotify intends to improve the analysis of its vast library and optimize the use of metadata to offer its users new and interesting content on a daily basis.
- Personalized advice: the goal is to improve the users’ listening experience through the use of LLM to understand patterns of favorite voice content, such as podcasts and audiobooks, to make personalized, relevant recommendations.
- Safe listening: Spotify aims to ensure a greater safety when listeningleveraging AI to identify and manage potentially harmful content.
Machine learning for music
Spotify has always recognized the potential of artificial intelligenceinvesting in this sector also thanks to its ML platform on Google Cloud. Il machine learning allows the creation of personalized playlists for listeners, providing recommendations based on their musical tastes.
Gustav Söderström, Co-President, CPO & CTO of Spotify, explains “We are excited to continue building on the strong and reliable foundation we have established with Google Cloud. The evolution of our technology has been accompanied by the commitment of Google Cloud in building the best platform possible on which to run our products and in driving further innovation with the emerging capabilities of generative AI.”
Thomas Kurian, CEO of Google Cloud, comments: “Through this partnership, Google Cloud’s artificial intelligence tools are helping Spotify improve its users’ listening experience. Spotify also recognizes the potential that AI can have across all aspects of the platform and, together, we will continue to deliver innovative technologies to benefit their business.”
The work behind the scenes
In addition to theIA to eat LLM, Spotify e Google Cloud are consolidating their collaboration between engineers to improve the Spotify’s core features and backend platform. Spotify also exploits the Google Cloud’s data capabilities to create effective campaigns, providing information and analysis to creators to help them succeed.
Tyson Singer, Vice President, Technology and Platform, Spotify, explains: “The collaboration and co-innovation between Spotify and Google Cloud pushes the boundaries of what both platforms can do. The scalability with which we are able to provide backend services and process data, as well as the cost savings we have been able to achieve, are critical to the success of our business.”
In addition to being a well-known company of streaming audio, Spotify is recognized in the developer community for Backstageun framework open source used for over 2,000 companies for the creation of portals for programmers. The framework, used to simplify developers’ daily tasks, could now benefit from Google Cloud AI capabilities for further optimizations, allowing developers to focus on more meaningful tasks such as creating more efficient code.
All tools that require artificial intelligence to function at their best – and to continue to improve.
