While the game officially supports the same AMD graphics unit technology, FSR2, the Nvidia equivalent is absent. But this is no longer a problem, because it is possible to add DLSS to Starfield with a free mod. Shared by modder “PureDark“, this free mod adds DLSS 2 and XeSS so both Nvidia and Intel GPU owners can enjoy higher frame rates. Using DLSS will allow you to maintain better FPS in-game, especially if you play at higher resolutions like 1440p or 4K. Please note that only Nvidia RTX graphics cards are capable of supporting DLSS technology.
Starfield: How to Download DLSS Mod
To download the mod, you can visit NexusMods, where you can read the complete instructions to install the mod and use it in the game. It’s worth noting that you won’t get the normal DLSS options like “quality” or “performance”. Instead, you can adjust the scaling directly. In this case, if you lower the scaling ratio, you will approach the “performance“ option, while if you increase the ratio, you will approach “quality“. Nvidia is currently supporting DLSS 3 for upcoming games, but it remains to be seen whether modders will be able to port the new version to Starfield or not. That said, PureDark has announced that it is working on adding DLSS 3 to Starfield, although it won’t be a free mod like the DLSS 2 version.
