While Final Fantasy 16 (here’s our review!) will receive lots of new content in the near future, Square Enix is now focusing on the next big release of its flagship franchise. A title that everyone, both long-time fans and novices who have only just approached the Remake, are waiting with their heads lit: Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth. The second iteration of the reimagining of that title that made us dream in 1997 returned to be the protagonist of last night’s State of Play, September 14, with a long new trailer that showed many new details. And not only.
Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth has a release date
Last night’s trailer also revealed the release date. Square Enix had already stated that Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth would be released in early 2024, and in fact this will be the case: February 29, 2024, PS5 exclusive. This time Square Enix showed a lot of video material, including a few frames of combat and many, many details on the game world. These include settings dear to longtime fans (the Gold Saucer!) and iconic characters, as well as some hints at the narrative that the game has undertaken after the deviation of the Remake’s ending. Both Sephiroth and Zack are very present, whose roles are still very much to be defined and considering how much things have changed in the two-hour finale of the first chapter, it is very likely that the relationships will be completely different.
